Please read below to find out how you can upgrade your classification. If you get stuck or need help please fill out our Union Counseling Form and Mickey Aldorasi will reach out to you to help.  No re-evaluating is allowed while you are working for a signatory (union) contractor. If you have a break from the union for a minimum of 12 months and return, then you may re-evaluate.

Note that only hours worked for a signatory (Union) contractor can be counted towards your hours worked as a CW.  

1.CW-1 to a CW-2 you must have reported 1000 CW-1 hours worked for a signatory (Union) contractor.

2.CW-2 to a CW-3 you must have reported 2000 CW-2 hours worked for a signatory (Union) contractor.  

3.CW-3 to a CW-4 you must have reported 2000 CW-3 hours worked for a signatory (Union) contractor.

All CW (Construction Wireman) must fill out the CW Upgrade form found here to start the process of upgrading. You can call the Hall to see how many hours are on file for you, but only by filling out the online form can an upgrade process begin. Once the form is filled out and submitted, it can take up to 48 business hours to verify your qualifications to upgrade. You will be notified along with your contractor via email and US Mail. Once the contractor has been notified via email your raise will take affect the next pay period.

When upgrading to a Construction Electrician classification, you must have completed the following class prior to applying:

1. OSHA -10

2. NFPA-70E

3. First Aid / CPR

4. IBEW 379 Code of Excellence

And you must have the following verified electrical field hours, Union and Non-Union:

CE-1 8000 (Union and Non Union) hours

CE-2 10,000 (Union and Non Union) hours

CE-3 12,000 (Union and Non Union) hours

All these classes are provided by the Carolina Electrical Training Institute (CETI) and IBEW LU 379. You can take any of these classes at any time during your employment, but they must be completed before applying to upgrade to a CE level classification. You can also take these classes on your own, at your own cost, or if you already have them, they must be less than 3 years old to count.

1. Application for Prior OJT Credit (if you have non-union hours).

2. Construction Wireman & Construction Electrician Application for Advancement.

3. Mail to 13530 South Ridge Drive Charlotte NC 28273, or deliver in person to the Director of the CETI.
