Hello,

My name is Scott Thrower, and I am the Business Manager of IBEW LU 379. LU 379 is one of 6 construction locals in the two Carolinas and has been in existence since 1926. We have on average 875 (A) members and generally work between 600 to 1000, with about 10 domicile contractors and on average up to 20 including out of town contractors. Our jurisdiction is large encompassing 34 counties in three states, with two zones (see map on job board). Most of the work for 379 is in the Charlotte metro area, with some work in Greenville SC and Lenoir NC. Our members are spread out over these 34 counties, making it somewhat easier to man these projects, but depending on the size can be challenging. For those who are moving to our area from another IBEW LU, if you classification is JW or JL you will sign book II (you will need a travel letter from you home local faxed to our local at 704-455-5117). To move your ticket to 379, you must work 90 days for one of our contractors, then see the Executive Board, and be voted on by the members at the next local union meeting. Our wages are always on the move, and that’s a good thing, you can see the current wage on our job board, along with other requirements.

Our local pension is 10% for JW,11.5% for JL, and 4% for CE’s. Our working assessments are 4% for everyone, and we do have a Benny Card (only those who receive full family coverage) and Vacation Fund (excluded CW-1-2-3 and App 1-2-3).
