I am excited to ask for the support of your local union for the upcoming Metropolitan Charlotte Workers, Church and Community Assembly & Political Forum on Saturday 9/17 at St. Paul’s Baptist Church.
This is a follow up event to a forum held in April that was successful in calling attention to the many economic issues faced by union members and all working people in our area. It was so successful because of the overwhelming response and support we received from our local unions. When we asked those candidates to commit to our agenda, they looked out at a crowd of over 100 people, most of them union. This level of engagement was key to flexing our power and demonstrating the impact that working folks have during the election. We need to keep this same energy going into the general election.
This event will be attended by senate candidate Cheri Beasley, Rep. Alma Adams and congressional candidate Jeff Jackson as well as candidates for CMS school board and Mecklenburg County Commission. They will hear directly from workers and union leaders about their economic conditions. All candidates will be given a score card and asked to commit to a working people’s agenda. We need a good turn out to continue to demonstrate the power of the union vote in North Carolina and hold these politicians accountable to our community’s needs.
Please commit to sending a delegation of your members to attend this important event. Make your pledge at this link: https://forms.gle/CgjGpdJprHnhoPmp8
If you would like to pledge a monetary donation to the Assembly as well, please reach out to organizer Gerald Taylor at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I'm looking forward to seeing you and your members on Saturday 9/17 at St. Paul's Baptist Church. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
